Hello. I’m Gary Duncan, a 23 year old honours graduate in Interactive Media Design from the University of Dundee.
I design things, and have done since I was a wee; things like interactive web sites, printed materials, advertising campaigns, promotional campaigns and corporate identities. i also provide photography services, make short films, adverts and corporate films.
It may be hard to believe, but I built my first web site when I was 12 years old. It wasn’t the best, but it did represent that all important first step in my career as a designer and developer. I taught myself how to design for the Internet and began offering my services to clients who came through the family business, Red Barn Studios. This venture grew steadily throughout school and University; I diversified into print and mailing campaigns as well as creating one of the world’s first online directories for hotels, Hotel Guide Scotland – though a year too early and unsuccessful. My time at The Scottish Antique & Arts Centre as a sales assistant resulted in responsibility for creating a glossy retail catalogue from scratch, and re-developing their web sites and online monthly marketing campaigns. Over the last few years i’ve built up a multi-camera video production company, worked with numerous web, print, film and photography clients, and graduated from University. More recently, I developed the Shortbread Short Stories online community web site, which is now undergoing its second phase of development.
2010 is a finishing off and tidying up year for me. I aim to complete the development of Shortbread, redevelop the business element of my video production business (now part of Red Barn Studios), then take a hard earned holiday! I’ll still be taking on clients throughout the year so feel free to get in touch.
